This episode is a little longer than usual, but I believe the content is worth it. I have already started thinking of ways to make future episodes more compact for you, without compromising on the information :)

Article Weight Loss – The Missing Link (Could you be overeating in reaction?)

This is a very interesting article from the Australian Sydney Morning Herald Newspaper, talking about emotional issues being for most overweight people the underlying factor of their overeating

What I found the most interesting part however is all the comments that are made afterwards, from people who feel that they have no emotional issues with their eating, just that for them and their body shape they are prone to putting on weight.

Now I am no expert by any means on this topic, but I do know what works for me and I have noticed that any time I try and deprive myself from eating something I just end up wanting it more, and yes I do eat more “junk” when I am stressed. Cake and Coffee is a catch cry for me when I’m really stressed out :)

Think Your Kids Need Exercise? Look At Your Own!

Well here it is my first blog rant..or more to the point blog scratch my head in wonder

I was recently researching what I wanted my next blog topic to be about and I came across this video of a Family Fitness day that a town and a large sporting club had got behind. The aim was to have come and have a try at the many fitness stations set up, all focusing on a different activity and the structure of the day was “Family Fitness” and “Fun with Fitness”.

Now this is not my rant…I think this is a wonderful way to get kids and families involved with exercise and I have to say essential to the future of not only our kids but our Globe as well.

What my rant is about is in the majority of  the scenes shown in this video the only participants were the adult instructors and the kids. WHERE WERE THE FAMILIES? The video showed them (adults) all standing around watching, and I hate to say it, but they were all overweight.

How To Train With A Friend And Actually See Results

This is a great article from Jonathan Dunsky who we are luck enough to have him guest blogging for Creative Fitness Coaching. It’s on such an important topic one I believe can make or break your workout. ENJOY…(and take notes!)

One of the most common fitness tips you can find online is to train with a buddy. There are plenty of good things about training with someone:

1. It helps to make your workouts more fun.

2. You have someone to spot you on difficult exercises like a chest presses with a barbell.

3. You have someone to monitor your form and give you tips on how to improve your technique.

However, there is also a dark side to working with a partner and this can be quite problematic. In fact, it may even lead to a huge reduction in the effectiveness of your workouts.

Fun Fitness – Serious Strength & Serious Fun

I love these guys, saw them in Hawaii in January performing in the street. The crowd was huge and drew us in, Jarrod (hubby) and I could feel the energy that was being created.

The video is only 2 minutes long but when you see how strong these guys are it is so worth the watch! Stay til the end and see some real fun with fitness!

Looking for more Intensity with your workouts? 3 Beginner’s Tips for trying CrossFit

Just recently I have had the pleasure of a CrossFit Coach walk into the gym that I own. fast fitnessThis gentleman looked an amazing picture of health and energy, after he had a good look around the gym to see if we had some of the equipment that he needed to perform his workout. He informed me he was a CrossFit athlete and Coach.

I have always been interested in “functional fitness” the type of exercises that keep us moving and strong as we move into our twilight years, so I was lucky enough to have what he needed and in exchange for a place to work out he offered to include myself and some of our members in some basic workouts to get a feel for what CrossFit is all about. Fun Exercises – Look to the sky for inspiration

Think about all the fun you had as kid, flying a kite, pretending to be an airplane, climbing trees and the list is endless. This however is one of my personal fav’s. I can tell you skydivers have really strong core, back and shoulders. I was luckly enough to be able to take the reins in a spin and while I thought I was strong the parachute really pulled against my back and shoulders. I actually wondered weather I could continue to hang on…I guess hurdling toward the ground helped me hang in there (oh and Greg’s help!) I have to say though I was a little proud of my self for being able to keep my knees in my chest for landing without holding on!

Maybe skydiving could be on your list of Fun & Fitness Exercises :)

Let me know on Twitter or Facebook if it’s on your list or you think why jump out of a perfectly good plane!
